The Katy Perry Super Bowl Half-time show, began with a giant UFO, a Mother-ship, sucking everything up into it.  Here’s the link (above) if you haven’t seen the ad yet.

Was the Pepsi ad hype, good PR, a way to grab everyone’s attention?  Or was it something more?  Was it a signal to those who wait the coming of ET?  Is there a group of people who know about the reality of the ongoing UFO presence and could this be the coming great deception which will lead to the New World Order, the one world government prophesied in our Bibles?

The UFO then landed and became the stadium and then, in the center of the “ship,” we saw…

Perfect Words For Today

August 11, 2011

Dear, DEAR friends,

Below is another devotioinal from my favorite devotional writer, Henry Blackaby. I have sent to many of you his daily devotionals in the last few weeks. As you read this, I ask you…Can God’s timing be any more perfect?

Pleasing God, Pleasing Others
Daily Devotional for Thursday, August 11th, 2011

For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. Galatians 1:10

At times you will have to make a choice between pleasing God and pleasing those around you, for God’s ways are not man’s ways (Isa. 55:8-9). As important as it is to strive for good relations with others, it is even more important to maintain a steadfast and obedient relationship with Christ. Disobeying God to keep peace with other people is never wise. Peace with God is always paramount. Jesus warned that obeying Him might cause division in your relationships (Matt. 10:35-36). If Paul’s primary goal had been to please others, he would never have become an apostle of Jesus Christ. Paul went completely against the wishes of his colleagues in order to obey Christ. At times, obedience to God sets family members at odds with each other (Matt. 10:35-36). When you follow Jesus’ Lordship, your family may misunderstand, or even oppose you, yet your obedience to God reflects your identity as His child. Jesus said that those who obey His will are His brothers and sisters (Luke 8:21). God does not intend to divide the home, but He places obedience before domestic harmony. It is important to get alone in quietness with God so that you understand what pleases Him. The world’s thinking will mislead you more easily when you are not clear about what God desires. It broke Peter’s heart to know that the opinion of a servant girl had mattered more to him than the approval of his Lord! If the desire to appease others tempts you to compromise what you know God wants you to do, learn from Peter’s mistake. Determine that you will please your Lord regardless of the opinions of others.

Isn’t our God GREAT?

He proves again how his foreknowledge works for HIS Glory in ALL things we go through. And with what we have been going through from the trials the enemy has sought to thrust upon us, isn’t God’s timing perfect to have THIS DEVOTIONAL on the very day so many of us are experiecing this very thing?

Blessings to you all.

In Christ,

Jeff D

I am personally praying this is not needed, but basically this is a pre-emptive action in case the enemy has won an unbelievable war that has been going on somewhere else as he seems to have gotten a foothold.

By the time I am able to read this again, I should know for certain what my own personal status is regarding staying at a place that has been such a beautiful place of not only True Refuge, but a place where the Lord has been receiving Glory and Honor that is due His Name for His incredible LOVE.

At this time, I cannot go into detail regarding the situation as many of the people who are subscribed to this BLOG are “out of the loop” to put it gently. That is by no fault of their own. It is only because the Lord opened up this HUGE door for ministry, hence the reason for the last entry here.

SO…those who already know what is going on and the sadness of it all, please know that for now, this might be the temporary or permanent “Go to” place. I just don’t know. I AM thankful it is already here so we can come here and continue in our small community of worshipers seeking Jesus and His perfect will and sharing His Perfect Love which casts out ALL fear with those the Lord has brought our way. I don’t know what else to do right now but wait to see the outcome of my last PM’s to the owner of the site and the one who sadly caused GREAT consternation among every new believer that has contacted me or I have heard contact my ministry partner Kelly.

I pray all will be worked out at the other site and we will still be able to continue SHOWING THE WORLD just how AWESOME is our God and His BOUNDLESS LOVE.

Even in this room with an updatd version of Windows, I am still having trouble as I type these words. I can’t use this site on my PC I use in FM Control as it is so out of date, it cannot handle the new WordPress template. But as Don Moen encourages me and many others almost every night, “God Will Make A Way”. AMEN and AMEN.

As SOON as I know something, I will let you all know.

In Christ,

Jeff D

**********EDIT**********

The REAL account and TRUTH of how all this happened is documented with the very messages first sent that began what the enemy sought to use to bring us all down. To know the TRUTH behind the madness you must actually read the replies within this post. The Lord has brought what the enemy tried to keep silent and in here it is being SHOUTED from the roof tops. Know this, the enemy did NOT win after all. The very Adversary of our King Jesus does what he does so many times due to his pride; he out-smarted himself and tipped the balance FURTHER towards the LIGHT that is Jesus Christ.

Thank you to all who have come to visit as The Lord raised up this BLOG to provide REFUGE for your soul. And to get to that place of REFUGE, we sometimes have to walk through some dark alleys in order to get to the TRUTH. Remember the Words of our King Jesus, “The TRUTH shall SET YOU FREE”.

Inside is the TRUTH.

Peace be yours.

What I Pray

April 15, 2011

When The Night Is Falling

What I pray is for those who are hurting so bad because of the evil one to come to know full healing. But before they can receive their full healing they must know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

For a month and a half now, I have been overwhelmed with emails from hurting souls because of the Lord using “A Thread of Hope” by Dennis Jernigan. Please listen to it for yourselves at http://www.dennisjernigan.com and experience what the Lord has ready for you or someone you know that has suffered from any form of abuse but especially childhood abuse.

God is setting captives free and He has opened my eyes to a world I always knew existed, but now I have been brought into their world and am experiencing their pain from an outsiders point of view.

If you want freedom from the lies that the enemy has heaped upon you maybe for decades, please call 1-888-NEED-HIM. They are there 24 hours a day to listen to you cry, talk with you, pray with you or whatever you need. They are licensed counselors who God is using to bring help to those hurting.

Please, if you need to vent or if have a PRAISE because of the goodness of our God, know you are welcome to do so here. Even through you don’t see many people commenting, they are reading as I am able to see how many people visit this site on a daily basis.

This BLOG was originally started as a place of Refuge. A place to come and praise God so we can get away from all the ugliness in this world. God is using it how He sees fit and that is exactly just what I need. He is in charge, not me.

Again, if you need to talk, please feel free to do so here because I promise you, there are people who are members to this BLOG who have been through the worst you can imagine. Just think about the most horrible things a child can go through, and there are people subscribed to the BLOG that have experienced worse.

MAY THE PRAISE DISPEL THE DARKNESS.

In Christ,

As I am sure is obvious, many of you may by wondering why I haven’t followed up on the previous post as I declared I would be doing a series on born again Christians and our beliefs, why we care about others and why it is so important to know how to defend your own faith in Jesus Christ.

Since the last posting, not only have some major changes been happening in my own life and the life of my family, but since the night of Feb. 28th, 2011, The Lord has seen fit to begin an impromptu ministry that began when Dennis Jernigan sent me a message asking me if I had heard a brand new allegory/song he had done called “A Thread of Hope”. I told him I had not and he strongly encouraged me to go to his website http://www.dennisjerigan.com listen to it. If you go to his site, scroll about halfway down and on the right side of the home page you will see it.

If you are new to this site, and have never heard “Thread” before, I exhort you to spend some time in prayer before you listen. Then after you listen, to spend some more time in prayer. You will understand after listening.

DJ was in concert at a local church in Fort Worth on the night of the 28th. He had sent me his new CDs and one of them was to be “Thread”. However, when I came to the station on Saturday the 27th, all the CDs were there except for “Thread”. I met with DJ before the concert and told him for some reason it did not arrive with the rest. You could instantly read the look of almost pure consternation on his face as he asked me if I had a blank CD which I did not.

We had both talked about airing “Thread” on Sunday night because as soon as I heard it, I knew the Lord was moving in my heart to put in on the air. I told him not to worry as God would make a way. Sure enough, I was able to pull of his webpage in one of our Production rooms and pull it up in the main FM Control studio and play through the board. The entire piece is almost 3o minutes long. The station at which I serve is unique not only in that it is listener supported but because God has blessed me with the privilege of playing what I feel the Lord is leading me to play. Basically, no other radio station would touch “Thread” being played on the air. However, most other radio stations are not like the one where I serve.

After the concert that Sunday night, my wife and I went home after enjoying seeing DJ doing what he does best and that is bringing praises to our God wherever it is the Lord has sent him to minister. I took my quick power nap and came into the station to begin the program which begins at 11 pm on Sunday nights.

I had given the audience plenty of time to know what was going to be aired and the nature of the piece to be played and asked them to please be in prayer that God would use “Thread” in whatever way, He sovereignly chose to use it. After it was over, I asked the listeners to either call in or email me their thoughts on it and if they thought it should be played again.

SILENCE!

It was not until after 1 am that I heard from anyone and when I did it was not about “Thread”. I wasn’t sure what to think but I knew from past experiences that God works the way He chooses and to trust Him which is what I did.

That night, I got an email from the woman who was the inspiration behind “Thread” and we began to send emails back and forth getting to know each other and how we were both acquainted with Dennis Jernigan. She informed me that he had told her it was going to be played during the first hour of the show so she wanted to know how things went.

Well, the second night, the emails began coming in. The next night, more emails. The third night even more. It was clear to both me and “Kelly” (the pseudonym for the woman behind “Thread”) that God was doing something but we weren’t yet sure what.

It has now been over a month and a half and the emails still are coming in from women who, like Kelly, were abused as a child. There have been emails from men who are falling under conviction of the Holy Spirit for being involved in homosexuality and the shame they feel for what happened to them as little boys which led them to great confusion about who they are as men and want to know how to find that shepherd the little girl in the allegory talks about and found. That is the one main theme that God has been showing us through each and every night we get gut wrenching emails…people are hurting and have been for decades. They thought they were able to cover up those terrible and horrific wounds from childhood but when they hear “Thread” for the first or the third or even fourth time, the tears cannot stop flowing and their whole world is turned on its head. They literally don’t know what to do. So many of them have had to take time off from work as God is dealing with those past hurts and leading them to Himself that they might find healing and complete restoration of who they really are…beautiful women and men created in the image of God.

Right now as I write this, Kelly and I have been so overwhelmed with the shear amount of emails that it is impossible for me to keep up with them…even the ones that God leads me to send to Kelly as He has formed what can best be described as a “Tag team ministry” where I help with those I can and she helps with those she can.

All I know is that God brought us together for a purpose and a season. People are being broken as the Holy Spirit uses Kelly’s story through “A Thread of Hope” to rip open old wounds, some decades old. He is setting captives free and we are totally humbled to know that we are a small part of His big picture plan to bring hurting souls to Himself.

Will you please pray for us? The last thing the enemy of our souls wants is for those who he has had trapped for so long to find even the smallest glimmer of Hope. And that is exactly what they are finding through the healing power that the Lord used by the testimony put to allegory/song through “A Thread of Hope”. To say the enemy is attacking us, especially Kelly is an understatement.

We don’t know where God is leading this impromptu ministry but we pray that wherever He chooses to take it, those that have been victims of Satanic Ritual Abuse such as Kelly, those who are victims of childhood sexual abuse and all other forms of abuse that no child should ever have to suffer, will continue to find that glimmer of Hope they never though possible and that He would continue to give us wisdom and discernment as to best give Him the Glory and Honor He is due.

In Christ,

What Do You Care Anyway?

January 17, 2011

I am hoping to take a different approach with next few posts for the purpose of going over some of the basics of the Christian faith for any who may pass by this site unsure of how to become born again as Jesus speaks of in John 3. This is going to be long, so I pray your heart is prepared.

For those of us who have sought to tell others about our Lord and their need for salvation, there is one overall theme that seems to keep coming up from our non-believing friends…and that is “What do you care anyway?”

Why DO we Christians really care about those who don’t claim faith in God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ? To put it plainly, it is because HE cares. Jesus cared enough to die for us. In John chapter 3 we have this discussion between Nicodemus, who was one of the most respected members of the Jewish ruling council, and Jesus. The account of this conversation goes like this: “He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him.” In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, NO ONE can see the kingdom of God unless he is BORN AGAIN.” How can a man be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!” Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.”

When a person takes that step of faith to do what Jesus said, become “born again”, there is an eternally life altering event that takes place. You become a brand new person. The Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

This newness is what inspires those of us who are here on this site and others to do what we do…defend the faith. We are no longer interested in our old ways. Speaking for myself that means things I no longer miss AT ALL such as going to keg parties, getting wasted, stealing, telling as many lies as I could to try to cover my other lies et al. We all have a past to some degree that we have happily left behind for this “new life”. God has replaced all that old crud with NEW and exciting things. We have been born again to a NEW life. When we are born the first time physically as Jesus was speaking of when He said “born of water” we are born dead to God in sin. This sin was inherited through the first man and woman that we all know as Adam and Eve.

You see, from the first book of the Old Testament (Genesis) to the last (Revelation), there is one consistent theme…God and man has experienced a separation…an alienation…a barrier. This barrier cannot be removed by man. The Good News is that God has removed it for us. This is why we are here. To tell any who are interested…and then defend why we believe this is true. But there is no use talking about Who Jesus is or why He came until we first understand the nature of this barrier that exists between man and God.

I am sure all of us know the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. But it is painfully obvious there are many that don’t understand the ramifications of what exactly happened there and why it is such a big deal. This is why I am starting this new series that will probably be broken down into several posts.

Now, picture if you will, the first record we have of man’s relationship with God as recorded back in Genesis. It was a beautiful environment, and there was TRUE fellowship and communication between God and His creation…man. Man was free to do as he wanted. He was asked to do only ONE THING…not to eat of a one certain tree in the Garden. (I ask you to please refrain from the thought of free will at this point) But a legitimate question is “Why would God place a tree there and then ask them not to eat from it in the first place?” I believe that this was a test of man’s trust in God’s judgment to care for him. It was also a test of whether he wanted to continue in the relationship. You see it was not the tree that was evil…it was man’s choice to disobey God that was evil.

Please understand that before Adam or Eve ever took a bite from the fruit of the tree that was forbidden, there was something else that had taken place that would give them a reason to decide to rebel against God’s command…they had to believe a lie…a lie about God’s character. You see at some point they had come to a place in their own minds that God really didn’t have their best interests at heart. They had to have been thinking that God was keeping something from them that would make them godlike. The exact SECOND they disobeyed, a barrier was placed between themselves and God that could not be removed by man. The awesome fellowship and relationship that they had once enjoyed with God their Creator was INSTANTLY broken. Spiritual life was now dead. They no longer had the kind of Life that God has.

What we argue as Christians is that through all the religions, traditions, philosophies, good works and ideals of man, man himself CANNOT break down this barrier…only God Himself can remove it…on Grace alone. So the logical question now becomes “Why does there have to be a barrier at all?”

Well I believe that is a question that can best be summed up with this one answer…God is HOLY. The word Holy basically means “to be separate”. God and man are now separated because we are not Holy. That which is not Holy cannot be in God’s presence. Now before you go and say, “It’s God fault in the first place that man is now separated from Him. He should never have set such high standards.” Trust me, I understand. I deeply sought the answer to these questions myself in my own time of searching.

There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in Holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future. Our present state of sin keeps us separated from God’s Holiness. We have a sin debt that we owe to God.

To get a better understanding of this sin debt, we have to go back to the practices of the Roman Empire’s criminal courts. All Roman law assumed that every Roman citizen owed Caesar allegiance and obedience to his laws. As you probably know, Roman justice was swiftly enforced on any who dared break his laws.

If a person was found guilty of breaking the law and sentenced to prison, there was a list made that itemized every single infraction he made. Along with that was the penalty to correspond to each law that was broken. In essence, this list was a record of how the person failed to live up to the laws of Caesar. It was known technically as the “Certificate of Debt”. This Certificate of Debt was then nailed to the door of the prison cell so that when you passed by you would then see that the person inside had been condemned justly and see that the punishment given was limited. Once the person had served their time and was released, they were handed this really old, torn and weathered Certificate of Debt. At last there was good news for the one who was imprisoned for the debt he owed Caesar. On the Certificate of Debt were written three very important words for all to see…those three words were “Paid in Full”. No longer were they held accountable for not keeping the law or not upholding the standard that was set for them to meet. Their debt had been paid…they were free.

You may be able to see where we are going now. Man owes God PERFECT obedience to His Holy laws. Why? Because this is what God requires. We owe it to God to be perfect as He is perfect and since this is His requirement, his standard MUST be met. Remember, God is Holy and His Holy character demands that we be Holy. But because man continually disobeys God’s laws, he has become an offense to the very character of God.

To sin actually means “to miss the mark”. Imagine that you are playing darts and you MUST hit the bulls eye each and every time it is your turn. If you miss just once…ONCE…you have missed the mark. You have failed to meet the standard of perfection. If you want to think about in terms of a justice system, you could say that God, as the Eternal Judge has pronounced a DEATH SENTENCE upon all men…because “ALL have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.” Romans 3:23. We have ALL missed the mark. We have ALL had one dart miss. ALL of us have. Also keep in mind that when you work for someone, that person owes you wages for the work you have done. Well, we in our sin nature work for God’s enemy, Satan. And the work we have done is sin…and the wages we have earned for that work is…you guessed it…death. As it says in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

In Colossians 2:14 Paul says, “having cancelled the written code, with its regulation, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; He took it away, nailing it to the cross.” This passage indicates that a Certificate of Debt was prepared for EVERY person who would ever live, listing every sin they ever committed…every failure to live up to God’s Holy standard in thought, deed and word in accordance with the law of God was recorded and listed. This death sentence has become a Debt of Sin to God. As you know, if you have any debt, it has to be paid. If we are not able to pay this debt, then there must be someone who is qualified to take our place and pay it for us or the one to whom the debt is owed can choose to forgive the dept outright. This verse says that Jesus took our debt of sin and nailed it to the cross. In other words, our Certificate of Debt has been “Paid in Full”. Isn’t that Good News?

It is my hope that if we will be looking with much more detail in future posts regarding the implications of this debt of sin being forgiven with such terms as propitiation, sanctification and justification. We are only scratching the surface here in an attempt to keep the flow going without bogging down, yet seeking to cover the finer points of Grace.

The most beautiful thing about having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and not a religion is what happens on the inside of each individual who has God’s Holy Spirit indwelling them. He gives us new motivation to live, new hope and a new desire to face each day. Religion can only offer external programs, traditions made of men or a code of ethics that must be met in order to change the OUTER behavior or the outer man. Well that would be fine and dandy if that were the only problem…but it’s not. When someone has an outward renovation, it tends to blind them to the real problem which is the sin nature on the INSIDE of each person. It does no good to paint the outside of your house if the interior of the house is wrecked from years of parties and abuse. If the builder of the house wants to purchase it back, he will not take if only the outside if cleaned. The inside must be clean as well. Otherwise you only have a superficial representation of what was originally created.

This is what happened with Adam and Eve. What they failed to realize was just how disastrous it would be to be spiritually dead. When they sinned, they immediately felt alienated from God. They even went so far as to hide from Him. These were the first indications that they were dead spiritually. God had warned that “in the day they ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil they would surely die.” They didn’t die physically right then, but their spirits died INSTANTLY. The part of their life that could know and communicate with God personally had died. Now they were faced with a sense of alienation brought on by guilt.

Aside from all the other nasty consequences of man’s disobedience to God, perhaps the worst is that God withdrew from man His spiritual life and left man with a dead spirit…or a spiritual vacuum if you will.
You can just see the problem that arose between God and man. God had made man in such a way that communication with Him was possible through His Spirit. So now God had to communicate with man in ways that his five senses could comprehend.

That is the essential message of the entire Bible actually…God seeking ways to make fallen humans aware of His existence, His Love and His judgment against all sin. But God always takes the initiative to reach out to us in ways that we could understand through our physical senses.

So here we have a decent picture (I hope) of this universal barrier that separates man from God. We can’t tear this thing down and we can’t climb over it by our own efforts. The barrier MUST come down somehow though if we ever hope to have access to God again…and only God Himself can do that.

So the question still remains….”why?”

This is where we will pick up next time. As I said, I hope this is going to be a series of posts on the overall question of “Why?” as in “Why does sin matter? Why does sin cause a separation from God? Why did Jesus even have to be born just so He could die? Why did there have to be a sacrifice? Why are we sentenced to hell if we freely choose to reject this sacrifice? These are important questions that we all ask at some time in our lives and my desire is to take each one individually.

Stay tuned. 🙂

In Christ,

The Two Gates

December 27, 2010

We just celebrated the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As many times as I have quoted the Words of Jesus on this site, there are now and always will be a few who just cannot fathom the reality of what it was He said in John 14:6. As Christians, our whole argument is fundamentally built around what He claimed…that HE was and always will be the ONLY way to God.

Because of pride, some will never allow themselves to become humble enough to accept the Truth that there are only two gates in this life by which we can pass through…two. No more. We choose one or the other.

Jesus teaches that there is a narrow gate and a wide gate. That’s it folks. There isn’t any of this “All roads lead to God” talk here from Jesus. In Matthew 7:13-14, He says, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the path that leads to destruction, and MANY enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a FEW will find it.”

Obviously, we can see here that both of these gates lead to different roads or paths. The narrow gate is the most difficult to pass through. Luke records Jesus saying in Luke 13:24, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.” Yet on the other hand, the wide gate opens onto a broad road that many take. These two gates lead to VERY different places according to the Lord Himself. Now, there have been many attempts over the centuries to confuse the two roads…or to insist that both roads really lead to the same place. The confident majority always tries to justify its decision to boldly take the path of the broad road and many times, make fun of those of us in the minority who have chosen to enter through the narrow gate. You see it frequently in the conversations with non-Christians.

Unfortunately, there are only small handfuls today that make an effort to point out the differences in the gates and in the destinations of each, which are radically different. I must say however, that I am greatly encouraged to see a sudden influx of new people who are coming to this BLOG and are giving great effort in learning how to defend their faith so that they too, may tell others of the difference and consequences of these two very different gates. I am truly excited at their potential as they eagerly learn God’s Word and begin to put forth its practical applications in fighting this Good Fight.

What you don’t see is the number of people who are visiting here each week but don’t comment. That doesn’t mean they aren’t taking in what the Lord wants them to see.

At this time I am sincerely asking that those who are skeptics, to truly try to comprehend what Jesus is saying of Himself. Let’s look a few of the Scriptures where Jesus claims to actually BE the narrow gate:
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE: NO MAN can come to the Father BUT by ME.”

John 10:7-9 “Therefore Jesus said again, ‘I tell you the Truth, I AM THE GATE for the sheep. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I AM THE GATE; whoever enters THROUGH ME will BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture’”.

John 11:25-26 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will NEVER die. Do you believe this?’”

In this last verse, He is talking to Martha, the brother of Lazarus, who had just died and been buried. I love how He asks her before He raises Lazarus from the dead, “Do you believe this”? That is the same question He asks of everyone today…do you believe Him or not?
Every single one of us has a free will. We each choose to either accept or reject His claims.

I’ve read arguments about how we can’t trust whether Jesus truly existed or not. This is truly hogwash! Again, you must hold that same standard to any and every historical figure of antiquity. Are you intellectually honest enough to do that? The point here is that whether we reject it or not, it would be ridiculous for any of us to say that Jesus did NOT claim to be the narrow gate. If Jesus IS Who He claimed to be, then the gate is very narrow indeed. So narrow in fact, that the Bible says that NO man or woman can even see the gate unless God provides them supernatural help! By the way, when as a Christian, you are called “narrow minded”….where it as a badge of honor, for nothing could be Truer.

Now, when Jesus had officially begun His public ministry, He read the following portion from the Scroll of Isaiah to the synagogue leaders in Nazareth: ‘The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the Good News to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19

Jesus also said in John 6:44, “No one can come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.” The Apostle Paul preached the same message when he told King Agrippa what Jesus had called him to do as recorded by Doctor Luke in Acts 26:17-18. Here, he recounts what happened when Christ appeared to him on the road to Damascus. This was what Jesus commissioned to him as he was preparing to persecute more Christians and have them killed: “I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to Light. And from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those are sanctified by faith in Me.” I pray you are now beginning to see that we are not going to find that narrow gate without God’s help. It is a difficult task indeed, for man’s pride and the distractions of this world are great. Satan knows all to well our weaknesses, and he knows how to set the trap to keep us looking for other “ways”.

Almost on any post at a Christian forum site, you can find someone saying words to the effect of “The teachings of Jesus were to tell us not to judge others. Besides, who’s to say that His way is the ONLY way?” Right? Well, I must proclaim here and now that it is ONLY the teachings of Jesus Christ that reveal the narrow gate. Jesus also insisted that HIS Words where the ONLY Words that would lead us to the narrow gate (Himself) and through that gate to eternal life. Notice in these verses that He is not just claiming that He got these ideas out of the blue:
I tell you the Truth, whoever hears My Word and believes in Him Who sent Me has eternal life and will NOT be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” John 5:24

“Jesus answered them, My teaching is not My Own. It comes from Him Who sent Me. If anyone CHOOSES to do God’s will, he will find out whether My teaching comes from God or whether I speak on My Own.” John 7:16-17

“Then you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.” John 8:32

“But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw ALL men to myself.” John 12:32

“Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth.” John 17:17
These are Words that EVERY person that has ever read them must consider. It is extremely, EXTEMELY hard for those who have presuppositions in their mind set, to even accept the possibility that His Words are True. Their world view won’t allow it. But once any person has read them…and yes, that includes any atheists, skeptics and agnostics who just read them…you are now faced with the reality of what you must do with them. You MUST decide at some point whether He is Who He says He is…THE ONLY WAY.

You see, here’s the thing; we will NEVER find the gate that leads to eternal life unless we pay attention to the Words that God has spoken to us through His Son, Jesus Christ.

“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, Whom He appointed heir of all things, and through Whom He made the universe. Hebrews 1:1-3

“We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if WE ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.” Hebrews 2:1-4

So you see, now that you have heard the Good News, you have NO excuse. Yes, you can still reject this Truth that Jesus is the ONLY way since He IS the gate by which we MUST pass if we truly desire eternal life…but…you will not be able to stand before Jesus Christ on the Day of Judgment and say no one ever told you. It may sound harsh or cold…yet it is True. Just because Truth is hard to take because it may go against your presuppositions, does not mean it wasn’t given in love…for it IS love to share the Truth…regardless of how painful or hurtful it may be. If it causes eternal change in one’s life…there is nothing of more worth. I pray you consider His Words carefully if you are seeking Him this day.

In Christ,

The Names Of God

December 20, 2010

I am in a worshipful mood at the moment as I have been playing some really wonderful Christmas music that listeners have been requesting. It got me to thinking about the awesome Majesty that IS the God we Christians worship.

When you take a step back and begin to reflect on just how good God IS to us and the untold ways He provides and cares for us, it begins to boggle the mind.

For all my fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord who visit, below is a list of the many ways God shows His supreme and undying love for us all. For any agnostic and skeptic friends that visit, don’t worry…you are not left out. The same God that we worship is the same God who is providing for you as you read these words. He is the same God for you that He is for us. The only difference is that right now we acknowledge His presence in our lives as living and active. I pray that you can take a minute and meditate on the Grace He has extended to us as this is the Christmas season…a time to reflect and give him an offering of our praise.

In Christ,

Here comes another long post but if you are sincere in your desire to defend your faith about who Jesus Christ is, I pray you will take some time to cogitate on this topic.  I believe this is of most importance because of the Christmas season.  The atheists are only getting bolder in their attacks against Christians and Christianity.  We better have our swords sharpened.

We must start off by stating that in all facets of life there will always be people who freely choose to reject Truth regardless of the subject matter or the consequences. It is no different when it comes to Jesus Christ. We all make choices based on our presuppositions, values and what we perceive to be real and True.

You see 27 years ago this month, I made the decision to finally surrender my life to this Jesus I had heard about the previous 19 years of my life. Did I make this decision rashly or out of ignorance? Absolutely not. It will never cease to amaze me how cynics and skeptics will charge into someone’s claim of faith in Christ with the accusation that “You blindly follow something you know nothing about. Open your eyes and search for knowledge and experience in other religions for they hold just as much truth as your new found religion does.” Of course that is a major paraphrase of the many comments I have gotten over the years but it sums them up in a nut shell nonetheless.

Why do people do that? Are they motivated by fear that Jesus is Who He said He was…God? I believe emphatically that the answer is yes. Why fear? Because IF Jesus is truly God, then everything He said is True. That means that you and I WILL be held accountable for our actions and thoughts. Jesus said in Matthew 12:35-37, “The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

You see people don’t like to be told that their way of life could be wrong. I didn’t like it. I hated it when I was told I would go to hell if I died without Jesus. And I was a church going boy most of my life. However, unlike many false allegations hurled against me and other Christians, I DID examine the evidence over a period of years. While I was searching and PLEADING for God to show Himself to me…to MAKE me believe, slowly He began to reveal Himself and His Truth to me. You noticed I said I wanted Him to “MAKE” me believe? I was not willing to surrender and humble myself to God. I was not willing to tell all my drinking buddies that I “surrendered” of my own free will. My pride wouldn’t allow it. If there was going to be any kind of conversion experience, it was going to be God forcing me to convert by a personal appearance to ME and speaking DIRECTLY TO ME to convince me.

But God in His Wisdom didn’t do that. You see, over time He began to show me that He had already revealed Himself to me…through the Bible. I began to search for other sources to verify that Jesus is who He claimed He was. Was there other sources outside of the Bible to that shed light on whether or not Jesus truly did exist? And if so did that lend credence that Jesus is Who He claimed to be…God?

The answer is yes. There are several sources. Jewish Historian Flavius Josephus mentions Jesus in his book called “Antiquities”, Book 18, chapter 3, paragraph 3 says ” Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man; for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ. And when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him; for he appeared to them alive again the third day; as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him. And the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day.”

Pliny the younger who was Governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor wrote of Christ.
He is spoken of in the Talmud.
Greek writer Lucian mentions Jesus.
Tacitus, a Roman historian mentions “Christus” in his “Annals”
Thallus who wrote a history of the Eastern Mediterranean world from the Trojan War to his own time wrote around AD 52 about the eclipse of the sun at the time of the crucifixion.

I point these out because there are those who demand extra-Biblical evidence for the existence of Jesus. I believe that any intellectually honest person would not discount the historical documentation that indeed, Jesus Christ was a man who walked on this earth 2000 years ago. Once we have established this historic fact, we must then ask the next obvious question: Was He God as He claimed? And if so, what does that mean to you and me?

C.S. Lewis made the following famous statement: “I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: ‘I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.’ That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic – on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg – or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”

The name, Jesus Christ, has caused more division, agitation and controversy than any other name in history. If you bring up God in a discussion, nobody is really offended. If you speak about Buddha or Brahman, Moses or Mohammed, you really don’t irritate the listener. However, the name Jesus Christ seems to cut right to the soul. Something makes this one religious leader more contentious and convicting than all the others combined. Why is that? What is it?

You see as mentioned earlier, unlike any other widely followed religious leader in history, Jesus Christ made a unique claim. He declared Himself God. Not one of many gods like some friends believe, not god-like, but God incarnate…the Creator of the universe in human flesh. Intellectually, that’s disturbing. Spiritually, that’s the most liberating thing that could ever happen to humankind.

Jesus said He was God. This is why the RELIGIOUS leaders of His day had Him crucified. When He was on trial before them…His life on the line, the high priest asked Him point blank, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?” “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” The high priest tore his clothes. “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he asked. “You have heard the blasphemy.” Mark 14:61-64

Now, there will be some who will say, “But He didn’t say He was GOD in that claim”. That is what many of the other religions and cults say but let’s look at more evidence. In John 5:17-18 Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.” For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

Still not convinced? In John 10:30-33 Jesus said, “I and the Father are one.” Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?” “We are not stoning you for any of these,” replied the Jews, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”

In John 17:5 He said, “And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.”

In John 8:56-58 we find Him saying, “Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.” “You are not yet fifty years old,” the Jews said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!” “I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I AM!”

Please understand Jesus was not only claiming to be equal with God in the previous Scriptures, but in the last two references, He said He existed BEFORE the world began. Jesus was saying that He was not a created being but has ALWAYS existed. Jesus goes even further in John 8:56-58. You saw where He used the reference “I AM” that God used while talking to Moses on the mountain in the burning bush in Exodus 3:13-15. Jesus is declaring not only has He always existed, but that He is the God of the Old Testament, the One and Only in the second Person of the Trinity. It is obvious Jesus CLAIMED the be God from the evidence, but is there PROOF that He was God?

Well let’s take a look at what some several prominent figures in the Bible say regarding Jesus being God. Here are just a few:

The Demons:
“When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torture me!” Luke 8:27-28

The Centurion:
“And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” Mark 15:39

Peter:
“But what about you?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Matthew 16:15-16

Paul:
“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.” Colossians 2:9-10

And in Luke 22:70 we find Jesus before the Sanhedrin: “They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?” He replied, “You are right in saying I am.”

These are just a few of the examples of Jesus being shown to be God the Son from several different sources. It is ridiculous to think that someone might wind up saying, “Whoops, I’m sorry. I thought I was God, but I guess I’m not. Please forgive me; it was an honest mistake.” If Jesus claimed to be God and was not, a serious alternative explanation will be required. If He did not claim to be God, then later claims about Him as God lose their force, since the most important witness to His identity (Himself) never said such a thing. Also keep mind this one very important fact…if He was not God…or none of the miracles attributed to Him in the New Testament did not happen but were only fictional stories “written by a bunch of men” as has been charged many times on this site, then where in all of antiquity are the historical recordings from the time these quotes were documented to dispute what He said? Why is there no evidence from the time of Christ that would rebut His claims? Surely if what the Bible records as history did NOT happen, there would be records disputing these lofty assertions would there not? Remember, Jesus had MANY enemies as did His disciples. They had plenty of time to advance a rebuttal to these proclamations. Think about it. Pray about it. And then be intellectually honest with yourself about it.

In Christ,
